Thank you to all the galleries and artists who participated in the inaugural Texas Contemporary Award.

We would like to congratulate Rachel Hecker represented by Texas Gallery as the 2012 Texas Contemporary Award Winner.

Honorable mentions went to Frowhawk Two Feathers of Morgan Lehman Gallery, James Gobel of Steve Turner Contemporary, and Baker Overstreet of Fredericks and Freiser.

Last year marked the launch of the Texas Contemporary Award, a $10,000 cash prize that was awarded to one exhibitor-nominated artist. This segment showcased national and/or international artists who navigate new and innovative directions in contemporary art. LACMA Chief Curator of Contemporary Art Franklin Sirmans and the Director of CAMH Bill Arning announced the winners on Saturday, October 20th at the fair.
